The iPod Touch Experiment.
Here’s the deal. I played with an iPod Touch last week and quickly fell in love. But I can’t exactly shell out $300 for one of ‘em. So instead I signed up to get one FREE at FreeiPods.com. The hitch? I need to get five friends to sign up and accept an offer from one of the sponsoring companies (Blockbuster, Disney, Discover Card, etc.). My offer? If you’ll sign up using my link and accept one of the trial offers, I’ll cover the cost (up to $10). That way, aside from five minutes of your time, it won’t cost you a thing.
The result?
1) I get the credit for referring you,
2) You get a free trial, and
3) I only need 4 more people to get an iPod Touch (or any other Apple iPod).
The way I see it, spending $50 to buy somone a couple of goodies is not only cheaper than $300, but it’s more satisfying as well.
What you’ll need:
1) A spam account (to catch spammy e-mails)
2) A credit card
3) Some patience (if you don’t receive credit right away)
Interested? Drop me a line at spankster @ telespank.com and I’ll give you all the info you need.
Be sure to let me know your PayPal address so I can send you the money to cover your trial membership.
Thanks again! I really, really appreciate it!
Kevin / The Spankster
P.S. I only need 5 people total, but I also only have a 15-day window in which to refer them. Time is of the essence, people.
______________
The Site:
FreeiPods.com
The Sponsor I Chose:
YourMusic.com
“YourMusic.com is an exciting new music subscription service that’s as simple as it is inexpensive! For just $6.99 a month you get:1 CD of your choice from a Music Queue that YOU create, access to unlimited CDs for only $6.99 each, and absolutely FREE SHIPPING on every purchase.”
Note: you don’t have to choose a sponsor immediately after signing up. They rotate every day, so if you sign in and don’t see YourMusic.com offered, just log in and try again the next day. (I signed up on a Wednesday, if that has any bearing on it.)
It’s Legit.
Just watch the geeks of G4 (TechTV) explain how (and why) it works: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iZMaP73Uc4E
No Spam.
Let me know what screen name you want, and I’ll set up a mailbox at _______@telespank.com for you to sign up with. This way your normal inbox won’t get spammed. Ever. (I can either forward it to your regular inbox or you can check it at mbox.telespank.com.)
No Commitments. No Credit Card Necessary.
YourMusic.com doesn’t require a long-term commitment and you can pay with PayPal. Don’t want to stay a member? No problem! You can always cancel after your CD arrives. (Just log into PayPal, click on your original payment & Membership Agreement and hit “Cancel.” It’s that simple.) They’re still thrilled that you even know they EXIST, and word of mouth is the cheapest, most effective advertising they can get. (To be honest, though, it really is a good source for music. Impressive selection and it beats the pants off of BMG or Columbia House.)
Why It Works.
For every successful offer completed, Freepay gets a kickback from the company making the offer. For example, if you complete an offer for a one-month trial subscription to YourMusic.com, YourMusic.com pays Freepay $xx. With enough offers accepted, Freepay gets enough to send you the iPod. In reality, Freepay has set the number of offers too low–five offers completed will not cover the iPod. But many people start the program, take an offer themselves, but never get enough referrals to take an offer. They never get a free ipod, and Freepay keeps the kickback without paying for iPod.
This subsidizes the free iPods, keeping the number of referrals you need reasonable. Some people call it a scam, but it’s more like their offering a rebate while expecting a certain percentage of buyers to never send in the paperwork. Regardless, for those who fulfill the requirements, you WILL get a free iPod of your choice, and both Freepay and you are happy! (Read more about it at: http://freeipod.detwiler.us/)

About FreePay:
* They are affiliates with high profile sites. AOL, GM, Blockbuster, Discover Card, etc., don’t readily sponsor scammers. It would be kind of bad for business.
* The parent site that runs Free iPods is Gratis Internet/Freepay. Their contact info is here: (Phone: (202) 595-9123 Fax: (202) 318-0328)
* They have been registered with the BBB for several years.

Why Would You Do This for Me?
* You want a free membership to one of the sponsors
* You’d like to get your own free iPod, and have 5 friends who would help.
* You love me? (You really, really love me!)
___________
Some quick notes when you DO choose an offer:
1. Whichever offer you choose, make sure you use the EXACT SAME E-MAIL you used to sign up with at the FreeiPods.com site. (You can always change your e-mail with the sponsoring company AFTER you receive credit, or just cancel, and not worry about what e-mail it’s tied to.)
2. Before you complete an offer, change your internet browser settings to temporarily accept cookies from websites (if you don’t already). (Instructions from Google are at: http://www.google.com/cookies.html). If they can’t track which offer you click on, you won’t get credit for it. And that would stink. If you hate cookies you could always be creative (create a new login account, use your sister’s or brother’s or BFF’s PC, use the library PC, your work PC… so many options…)
And if you have no idea what I’m talking about? You’re probably fine.
3. Temporarily disable any pop-up blocker that you might have, until AFTER you have completed the sponsor offer. (again, it might already be disabled)
